Innovation and Development

From our UK Product Innovation and Development (PID) Centre, our protective clothing designs are created, sampled and internally tested prior to full external product testing at an approved and accredited laboratory.

The design process starts with Bell’s extensive legacy knowledge and industry pedigree which has evolved over decades of specialist product development in waterproof, high visibility, antistatic, flame retardant and arc rated garment technology.

The PID Team are able to take design briefs or simple ideas right the way through the development and sampling process to finished products.

Centred round state of the art specialist design software, the development of new garments is brought to life initially through illustrations and then onto the Computer Aided Design (CAD) system which enables the necessary fine detail that comes with pattern creation, size grading and marker optimisation.

A vast range of fabrics, trim and components allow the designer to select the right materials for the application ensuring that garments are manufactured fit for purpose.

Bell’s sample garments are produced in the UK by experienced pattern cutters, sewing machinists and inspectors ready for in-house compatibility testing.  This is to make sure that all interfaces are interoperable with existing equipment and other PPE.

It is only when this entire process is complete that the garment is ready for you to sample, trial or simply purchase!
